Crop an image
Drag a selection box over your photo, lock an aspect ratio if you need one, and crop. You can resize the result and hit a file size at the same time if you want.

Social media sizes
Pick a platform size to lock the crop to its aspect ratio and set the exact output pixels. These are common, widely-cited sizes; platforms change them, so confirm against the platform's own help pages for anything important.

A crop box you can see and adjust, not just numbers
Cropping is visual: you want to see exactly what stays and what goes before committing to it. Drag the selection box's handles to resize it from any corner or edge, drag its body to reposition it, and watch the pixel dimensions update live as you go. Lock a ratio from the dropdown when you need one (a square for an avatar, 16:9 for a thumbnail) and the box snaps to it immediately.
Crop, resize, and hit a size target together
The crop selection alone already determines your output's pixel dimensions. Turn on "Resize after crop" only when you want the cropped result scaled to a different exact size than what you selected. Add "Limit file size" on top of either, and IMAGE SIZE PRO searches for the highest quality that still lands at or under your target, exactly like the compressor.
Nothing you process is ever uploaded.
A lot of online image tools upload your file, work on it on a server, and promise to delete it afterwards. The tools here open the file with your browser's own image APIs and do the work in this tab, whether that's compressing, cropping, or reading pixel colors. The image is never sent over the network, so there's no server copy to keep or delete. That matters most for passport photos, ID scans, and visa forms.
Read how it works// what happens to the file you add
const bitmap = await createImageBitmap(file);
// decoded in this tab: no fetch(), no upload
ctx.drawImage(bitmap, 0, 0, width, height);
// then resize, crop, or read pixels, depending on the tool
const blob = await canvas.toBlob(format, quality);
// your download is a blob: URL made in this tab
Frequently asked questions
How do I select the crop area?
Drag the box directly to move it, or drag any of its 8 handles to resize it. Corner handles resize both directions at once; edge handles resize a single side. If an aspect ratio is locked, in which case only the corners are available, so every resize keeps that ratio.
Can I crop to a specific aspect ratio, like square or 16:9?
Yes. Pick a ratio from the dropdown and the selection snaps to it immediately, then stays locked to it as you resize from the corners. Choose “Free form” for no constraint at all.
Can I resize the image after cropping, not just crop it?
Yes. Turn on “Resize after crop” and type an exact target width and height. It starts pre-filled with your crop's own pixel size (so leaving it alone just crops, no extra scaling), but typing a different number scales the cropped result to it.
Can I hit an exact file size on the cropped result too?
Yes. Turn on “Limit file size” alongside cropping (and resizing, if you're using it). All three are applied together in one pass, with a pass/fail check confirming the size target was met.
Does cropping lose quality?
Cropping itself just selects a sub-region of the original pixels, so nothing is re-rendered smaller or blurrier by the crop step alone. Some quality loss can come from re-encoding to a lossy format (JPG/WebP) or from the optional resize step, same as any other tool on this site.
Are the social media sizes official and current?
They're widely-used, commonly-cited baselines and a solid starting point for an ordinary post. Platforms change their recommended sizes over time and sometimes have several valid options depending on placement, so for anything that really matters (a paid ad, a profile photo, a brand asset) confirm against that platform's own current help pages first.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The crop selection, resize, and encoding all happen in your browser using the Canvas APIs built into Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. Your file is never sent over the network.
